Surventis has introduced new LightAssist functionality for its Refinity digital platform, designed to make subtle differences between automotive refinish colours easier for painters to identify and compare.

The new functionality adds an intuitive visualisation mode to ImagePLUS, enhancing the visibility of differences in colour, texture and effect when potential matches are displayed on screen. It is expected to be particularly useful when working with black and dark effect colours, where accurate match assessment can be challenging.

Accurate colour matching remains a critical but potentially time-consuming part of vehicle refinishing. While digital colour retrieval has streamlined the process, Surventis says distinguishing subtle variations can remain difficult, particularly with darker colours.

Refinity is Surventis’ cloud-based digital platform connecting products, services and business solutions within one ecosystem. Its Color module supports painters through colour identification, retrieval and match evaluation.

LightAssist builds on those capabilities by presenting colour information in a way intended to make potential matches easier to assess before painters progress further through the refinishing process.

Surventis executive vice president Refinish Coatings Steve Arndt said improving the speed and confidence of colour assessment could deliver practical benefits for bodyshops.

“Every minute counts in today’s body shop environment,” Arndt said.

“LightAssist turns complex color information into clearer visual guidance. It helps painters compare potential matches with greater confidence and can reduce unnecessary spray outs, material consumption and process time.”

Surventis emphasised that LightAssist was intended to complement rather than replace painter expertise or existing processes. By providing another assessment option within Refinity’s digital colour process, the technology can help painters identify unsuitable formulas earlier and potentially avoid unnecessary process steps.

The functionality was introduced at the recent Automechanika Frankfurt 2026, held from September 8-12, where Surventis demonstrated its continuing development of the Refinity ecosystem.

For black and dark effect colours in particular, LightAssist is designed to make differences in undertone, texture and effect more apparent than with standard visualisation methods.

The development reflects the growing role of digital tools in collision repair, with Surventis combining coatings expertise, digital technology and data to help bodyshops improve efficiency while maintaining repair quality.
