Retro Rides has launched a specialist vehicle finance service aimed at Australians seeking funding for performance, luxury, collector and classic vehicles that may not fit traditional bank lending criteria.
Retro Rides Finance provides customers with access to a panel of more than 80 lenders, offering consumer and business finance with loan terms ranging from one to seven years.
The service has been developed to address some of the additional challenges involved in financing enthusiast vehicles, particularly rare, modified, older or high-value cars.
Factors including a vehicle’s age, condition, provenance, market value and intended use can influence available finance options. Limited production numbers and a shortage of comparable vehicles can also make some collector and classic cars difficult for generalist lenders to assess.
Retro Rides managing director Cameron Jurd said enthusiast buyers often viewed their vehicles differently from buyers purchasing everyday transport.
“Enthusiasts don’t look at a performance or classic car as just another vehicle. It might be a car they have wanted for years, an important addition to a collection or a piece of automotive history they believe is worth preserving,” Jurd said.
“Retro Rides Finance brings that understanding to the finance process.”
The service covers vehicles ranging from modern European performance and prestige cars through to Australian muscle cars, high-performance imports, limited editions, investment-grade collectibles and older classics.
It has also been designed for buyers whose financial circumstances may not align neatly with conventional lending assessments, including self-employed professionals, small business owners and company directors.
Retro Rides said these applicants may have multiple income streams, business assets or other financial arrangements requiring a more detailed assessment, with finance remaining subject to individual lenders’ criteria.
The launch also brings finance into the broader Retro Rides and RR Auctions network, allowing customers to discover vehicles, examine indicative repayments and investigate finance options within the same automotive-focused ecosystem.
Customers can calculate indicative repayments, request personalised finance options and begin an application online at any time.
Jurd described specialist finance as a natural extension of the Retro Rides business, providing enthusiasts with another avenue to pursue vehicles that may only rarely become available.
“For many enthusiasts, the right car does not appear every day,” he said.
“When it does come to market, buyers need to understand their options and be in a position to act.”
