There can't be many places in the world more beautiful to hold a conference than Hamilton Island. The Fix Network Conference for Fix Auto and Novus Glass franchisees was called Our Family, Our Future and there was a strong focus on using the weekend to recharge.
It was great to see David Lingham out from the UK to moderate the two-day conference. The headline speaker was Steve Leal, President and CEO of the global network who relayed the story of how the network began and its journey to where it is today. There were a host of international delegates including the energetic Roy de Lange who is head of business in Germany. He described the market conditions in Germany (which apparently has loyal insurers, imagine?) and Australia's Scott Croaker joined him to discuss what's happening here.
A real highlight of the conference was Olly Bridge's presentation on Sustainable Performance. He's a wellbeing specialist who has worked with Olympic athletes and Formula One drivers. He had the whole room doing squats to music and talked about the importance of sleep and exercise to keep you at your peak performance. I joined him and many others at 7am for an animal exercise session where he taught us easy exercises that you can do when you travel or can't get to a gym.
There was a hilarious golf buggy treasure hunt in the afternoon and an F1 Sim Rig Challenge ran over the weekend. On day two David Caruso presented a session on effective marketing and the Formula One strategy was discussed. The event wrapped up with an awards gala dinner.
Thank you to Fix Network for inviting me to join the family, it was a blast.
