MJB Bodyworks is celebrating 15 years in business, having grown from a one-man operation into one of the Sunshine Coast’s most recognised collision repair businesses.
Founder Matt opened the doors in 2011 after spending years learning his trade in other panel shops. His aim was to build a business that combined quality repairs with genuine customer care.
While accidents and repairs are everyday business for a bodyshop, Matt understood they were anything but routine for customers. He wanted MJB to reduce the stress and inconvenience by looking after the person as well as the vehicle.
That approach has remained central as the workshop and team have grown. MJB says excellent craftsmanship, a positive workplace and making employees feel valued continue to shape the business.
Sustainability has also been a long-term focus, with the business looking for practical ways to reduce its environmental footprint and improve workshop practices.
Its growth has allowed MJB to increase its support for the Sunshine Coast community. Each year, a portion of its profits is directed to local schools, sporting clubs, charities and community organisations.
That connection is also personal. Matt’s dad was a long-time supporter of the soccer club Matt and Matt joined when he was six and still plays, volunteers his time and sponsors it through MJ. His son now plays there too, continuing the family’s three-generation connection.
MJB is also supporting Jamie Milne and JMT Fitness in an attempt to complete Australia’s Toughest Parkrun while carrying a 40kg ball. The challenge will raise funds for Inclusive Kids and local children experiencing hardship.
The business has collected several awards along the way. MJB won Best Boutique Shop at the Paint & Panel BodyShop Awards in both 2024 and 2025, as well as the Trades and Services Small Business category at the 2025 Sunshine Coast Business Awards.
Its anniversary year has brought further recognition, with MJB named the 2026 Sunshine Coast Local Business Awards winner for Outstanding Automotive Services. It is also a finalist for Best Medium Shop at the 2026 Paint & Panel BodyShop Awards and in the Trades and Services Small Business category at the Sunshine Coast Business Awards.
