New to the mix at GPI

GPI Automotive has introduces a new system that will result in no cleaning of spray gun pots and can save paint and panel shop owners up to 80 per cent in cleaning solvents costs.
The Gerson Paint System offers uses an advanced unitised design with compression ring technology, a rounded collapsing liner and integrated micron-rated filter.
According to GPI Group sales manager automotive products division, Andrew Hunt, the system will reduce slops and waste.
The system was on display at the recent South Australian trade show hosted by Body Shop Paint Supplies.
The system features a graduated, collapsing liner that the paint is mixed in. The separate measuring cup can removed once the system is connected to the gun.
The system works with the lid locked to the liner with the compression ring so the lid and liner cannot separate and it is waterborne ready coming with both 190 and 125 micron filter screens.
According to GPI, the system features a wide integrated micron-rated filter that allows free flow of paint.
The user-friendly spray gun attachment clips are specifically designed for fast, easy and secure attachment.
The mixing ratios are printed on the cup for more accurate measuring and the system features easy refilling through the unique Gerson Paint System compression ring which allows the lid to be re-opened, paint refilled and the system resealed.
Once the job is finished, the collapsible liner is discarded and, according to Hunt, only about 250ml of cleaner is needed to clean out the gun.
Alternatively, if there is sufficient paint left in the liner, the cap can be plugged and the paint reused.
GPI has put together smaller, “starter” kit of the Gerson Paint system made up of 10 liners, 10 lids and a mixing cup.
According to Hunt, the release of a number of new lines to the GPI range has helped maintain sales interest.
Also new to the GPI range is Bodyworx, an imperfection sanding guide which comes in a 100gram package making it more cost competitive than other dry guide coatings.
This product was introduced to the trade at the Adelaide trade show.
He said another new product generating good interest was the new range of masking paper.
Tru-Green Masking Paper is individually boxed and is 450mm wide, 300 metres long and has a 50gsm weight.
It has been manufactured with a specially treated bulk surface formulation that significantly reduces bleed-through.
