Plastic made fantastic

• Careful preparation will make the perfect repair possible. 

• Remove the plastic part to be repaired where possible.

• To identify what kind of plastic you are working with, take a sliver of plastic part, place it into glass of water. If it floats, use materials specific for semi-rigid plastic. If it sinks, use a plastic repair system for rigid plastics.

• If using a 2k adhesive, gun out adhesive onto a clean surface until both components flow equally. Discard gunned-out adhesive – this is to ensure the adhesive cures without any sweet spots in the repair.

• Minor surface defects in cured adhesive can be filled using plastic filler such as PLAST X6, specially formulated for bumpers, SMC, and most plastics.

U-POL’s PLAST X range is an extensive collection of plastic repair products that can be used to prepare, repair, bond and paint cracks, splits, scuffs and scratches in plastic parts (bumpers, grilles and spoilers). It also has a range of colour-coat aerosols in nine colours that are great to use when restoring or changing the colour of plastic components. These give excellent coverage, are fast-drying and provide a durable, semi-matt flexible coating.

WASH PLASTIC PART: Use detergent and water, rinse and dry.
PRE-CLEAN: Use a plastic cleaner on cloth and wipe area to be painted. Do not spray directly onto plastic part. Allow to dry.
