While there can only be one winner of the Paint & Panel Young Achiever Award, sponsored by PPG, we'd like to profile as many as we can over the next few weeks. With such a severe skills shortage, let's celebrate the young people who have chosen to work in our industry.

Olivia Buzadzic started with Western General Bodyworks Maribyrnong on November, 2018 at the age of 18.

Initially she was looking to get a bit of work experience while waiting for her university studies to resume. The casual work experience quickly morphed in to a full time position for her within the shop as a key support staff. Since her start with the company, she has filled the role of receptionist, tow truck dispatcher, car rental administrator, assistant to the accounts team and assistant to the office manager. She has mastered the art of invoicing as well. If she would put some effort in to panel beating and spray painting, we would consider her an all-rounder; though the demand for her skills keep her within the confines of the office.

Olivia has returned to university taking a course in architecture full-time and still puts in 2-3 full days of work at the shop. She certainly has the thirst for knowledge that keeps her expanding her knowledge of the shop and the energy to put that knowledge in to practice. Everything else withstanding, Olivia has a bright future with the company solely based on her merits.

We will be contacting nominators soon to ask them to fill out a Survey Monkey form to let us know why their nominee should win.
