Youi has officially supported more than a quarter of a million car insurance customers affected by Covid-19, as part of its car insurance relief campaign.

Youi became the first insurer in Australia to launch a Covid-19 support campaign in April, when it announced it would provide a temporary refund of 15 per cent for all existing customers, as well as new customers using their car less due to Covid-19.

The campaign, which was initially planned to run for three months was so warmly received by customers, it has been renewed for a further three months and extended to home insurance customers that are spending more time at home due to Covid-19.

Youi CEO, Hugo Schreuder, said he was delighted to be able to support so many people and the high number of customers opting into the relief package demonstrates the need for insurers to support customers through Covid-19.

"During times of crisis is when customers look to their insurer for support and I'm proud to have demonstrated that not only do we listen to them, but we truly care,"  Schreuder said.

"Because people are driving less and spending more time at home, there are less motor vehicle accidents and home related thefts, so the right thing to do is pass our savings onto our customers."

The three-month premium relief offers will provide a 10 per cent refund for all existing customers, as well as new customers who are at home more or using their car less due to the COVID-19 crisis.
