Jeff Williams, Chairman of Australian Motor Body Repairers Association (AMBRA) says: " mow is the time to stand up for the industry, a time to make a difference, a time to help us help you."

Over the last eighteen months the Motor Trades Association of Australia, in partnership with the Australian Motor Body Repairers Association (AMBRA) were successful in lobbying the Federal Senate to carry out an inquiry into the retail automotive industry, part of the final report of that inquiry was the recommendation that the Senate investigate the need for an inquiry into the relationship between repairers and insurers as shown below.

 Recommendation 12

3.63 The committee recommends that an independent inquiry into the smash

repair industry be undertaken to examine the relationships between insurers,

parts suppliers and smash repair businesses, and inform an appropriate policy

response.

As part of AMBRA and MTAA's efforts to ensure there is an inquiry, the industry needs to back our representative organisations Williams says. "As all members are aware the industry has been undergoing massive change, and it needed to change, but what has happened as part of that change is the insurance industry has under gone a systematic rationalisation of our industry despite any previous loyalties or relationships formed over the last decade and more.

"I encourage all body repairers around Australia to sign the petition that is on the newly formed AMBRA website, this web page is the industry's website and has large amounts of information for all repairer.  Click the link here to sign the petition

This will be the industry's last chance to have a say and be heard says Williams. All information entered is kept confidentially by MTAA.
