PPG invited  a host of custom vehicle builders and restorers to its Victorian training centre to sharpen their skills.

The contingent took part in a specialised training course over two days, participants were introduced to a range of PPG products and tools to create new colours and learn tips and tricks for working with bare metal to highly polished clearcoat.

PPG APAC business support manager John Hristias said that the course was a success in engaging the group on its products and procedures.

“Whether they are trying to attract customers or impress show judges, colour is really important for these guys so we took a close look at ‘colour design’.

"They are aware of the 'Vibrance Collection' custom paint finishes but we introduced all the different special effects available from the range and the tools on hand to help create colours.

"We looked at the things to consider when designing a new colour, including what’s a good starting point and some of the tricks you can take advantage of, and then everyone got the opportunity to create and spray their own colour.

"Combining Vibrance Collection products with PPG refinish paint systems to create amazing colours is a unique way for these guys to give their businesses a real point of difference.”

Hristias also said the company will continue to bolster its support of the industry.

“The show car and restoration scene in this country typically set a very high standard and there is no reason why it can’t continue to be amongst the world’s best. PPG is committed to support these passionate builders with the specialised products they need, along with training and technical advice.”
