This year’s Variety 4WD ‘Beach to Bay’ Charity Adventure will see participants push the limits of their four wheel drives and scale new terrain, including the world’s largest sand island.

Variety – the Children’s Charity is calling on all 4WD enthusiasts to take their vehicles off the bitumen and onto dirt tracks, creek beds, craggy mountain tracks, fire trails and rugged bushland as part of the all-inclusive six-day adventure holiday. The adventure will start at Boambee Beach, Coffs Harbour with a meet and greet on Saturday April 2nd and finish in Kingfisher Bay, Fraser Island on Friday April 8th.

Tam Johnston, CEO, Variety – the Children’s Charity NSW explains, “The beauty of Variety’s 4WD Adventure is its simplicity, as participants need only to turn the key of their 4WD to be on their way; everything else is organised including food, accommodation and entertainment.

“By being a part of the Variety 4WD Adventure, you’re supporting Variety’s work in helping Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged and have special needs. Together we can raise $100,000 to provide practical equipment, services and experiences to children in need. It’s the ultimate feel-good holiday.”

In 2016, the adventure will explore tropical rainforests hinterlands including the Wild Cattle Creek State Forest and marvel at the wilderness paradise of the Guy Fawkes River National Park. Participants will scale the McPherson Range and relish the challenge of its demanding terrain.

Stopovers in country towns will include an evening at the historic “Woodlands” homestead in Marburg built in 1870, with a ghostly ‘Murder Mystery’ night planned as part of the evening’s festivities.

The adventure will reach a warm conclusion with a visit to the world heritage listed sandy beaches of Fraser Island. Deemed the world’s largest sand island, the group will traverse 184,000 hectares of sand, stretching over 123 kilometres in length and 22 kilometres at its widest point.

“The Variety 4WD Adventure is a unique opportunity to see what your four wheel drives are really capable of. The emphasis is on good tracks, fabulous scenery, exceptional food, wine and of course, as with all Variety events, fun and entertainment,” said Johnston.

The cost of $6,600 covers the registration of one vehicle and two participants, including set meals, accommodation, nightly Happy Hours and a $3,000 tax deductible donation to Variety with further fundraising encouraged to help. Additional crew members are $3,138 per person (covering donation and provision fee).
