The arrival of the Motor Vehicle Information Scheme (MVIS) appears to be regarded as a mixed blessing in the collision repair industry. Many repairers have said that historically they haven't had difficulty, in the main, obtaining repair information. Dealerships have been a source of 'free' (if you buy their parts) repair information, OEM approved shops received the OEM methods 'free' (if they bought all the equipment specified and use OEM parts) and others used method providors such as eScribe and Ezi-Methods.

Now we are hearing instances of assessors demanding OEM methods are used and yet refusing to pay for them. Paint & Panel has requested a positioning statement from Suncorp, IAG, Allianz, QBE, Hollard and Auto & General amongst others around payment of OEM repair methods. In the meantime please take five minutes to fill out our survey about repair methods which will help to bring some clairty around this issue.
