The Commonwealth Bank of Australia could be putting its general insurance business up for sale according to an article in the Financial Review's Street Talk column.

Street Talk says it understands Goldman Sachs' bankers are lining up to help prepare the division for sale and pitch it to potential buyers.

The sale preparations would come after a long-running strategic review and as CBA seeks to tidy up its portfolio by divesting non-core assets,
