ACM Parts is showing its support for training at the MTA Institute in Queensland by donating free parts.
ACM Parts Queensland spokesman Kingsley Waters had no hesitation in donating a selection of bonnets for students to use in the Paintless Dent Repair course.
“Great training is the heart of our industry and we welcome the chance to support skills development in the sector,” Waters said.
“There are great careers on offer in the automotive repair industry and we want to encourage more talented people to skill up, and turn their passion for cars into a profession.”
In addition to contributing to the MTA Institute training program, ACM Parts recently announced donations to the Hand Brake Turn RTO in Sunshine, Victoria. Hand Brake Turn typically works with early school leavers, some of whom have a history of disadvantage and disengagement from formal education.
“This is about investing in the future. ACM Parts wants to foster the next generation of repairers,” Waters said.
General Manager of the MTA Institute, Paul Kulpa, said it was extremely important to receive the support of industry.
“The training and development of those working in the automotive industry, be they apprentices just starting their career or experienced tradespeople looking to develop and expand their knowledge, is vital to the healthy development of the industry,” Kulpa said.
“ACM Parts’ support in supplying these training aids will help us as we prepare those looking to work in the Paintless Dent Repair sector."
Kulpa said attracting and retaining quality apprentices was a concern both in Queensland and nationally, and that MTA had developed a number of programs to tackle the issue.
“We have a nine-week program called Auto Initiation. Part of the Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative, Auto Initiation will be delivered to students across the State and, through elements such as workshop training and work experience placement, enable students to gain a Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Placement and give them the basic knowledge, skills and confidence to be ‘job-ready’ for the industry."
