Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (Toyota Australia) is one of Toyota Japan's global manufacturing centres with a long term commitment to the domestic and export markets.
Toyota Australia's head office function and manufacturing/engineering activities in Melbourne are complemented by comprehensive sales and marketing operations based in Sydney. Additionally, Toyota has sales and distribution branches in all mainland Australian states. Toyota employs over 4500 people and thousands more are employed in its supplier and retail networks.
As well as its locally built Camry and Aurion, Toyota imports a wide range of passenger, 4WD and commercial vehicles including Kluger, Yaris, Corolla, Tarago, RAV4, LandCruiser, Prado, HiLux and HiAce, not to mention the revolutionary hybrid-model Prius.
Toyota is Australia's largest vehicle exporter and in 2006 exported 79,684 cars to more than 20 different markets, supplying right and left hand drive Camry vehicles to the Middle East, New Zealand, South Africa and Oceania markets. This strong export drive contributed over $1.5 billion dollars in revenue for Toyota Australia in 2006. In 2007 we forecast to ship about 90,000 export vehicles.
In addition, Toyota Australia distributes and sells the luxury Lexus brand of vehicles.
