Evergreen repairer John Kass held a special trade night recently to introduce his expanded repair facility to the industry.
Kass has been repairing vehicles for more than 40 years, and has recently expanded his Marrickville, NSW, shop so he could install a truck and bus booth.
The Spray ‘N’ Bake booth measures 21 metres by six metres by six metres – bigger than standard, according to Kass – to cater for trucks and buses.
The installation of the new booth, along with new prep bays, came after Kass acquired the adjoining premises. This is something he has done since moving to Edinburgh Road 30 years ago. Prior to that, Kass operated from a shop in Chapel Street for 12 years.
What started as a smaller shop in the 1980s has grown with the acquisition of adjoining buildings.
It means Kass can now operate a separate dust area, closed off from the other portions of the shop.
There is also a mechanical repair area.
The new area also features the paint shop, as well as a wet rub area, dry rub area and detailing.
The business can now handle car trimming, smash repairs for cars, trucks, buses and other large vehicles, and mechanical repairs, all under the one roof.
Kass has made life for his customers even easier with two buggies to transport people quickly and safely to the different areas of the repair facility.
Equipment in the crash repair shop includes two Carbench units and an Autorobot.
Kass says he will be installing a heavy chassis straighter early this year and also has plans to install an aluminium booth within the separate “dusty” area of the shop.
The Spray ‘N’ Bake Autobooth, which is a Mercedes Benz-approved booth, features full down draft.
The special trade night gave members in the industry the opportunity to look over the newly expanded repair shop.
