Benchtest Testing the Infraquick infrared dryer

Testing the Infraquick infrared dryer

Infrared dryers are used in the automotive industry for drying paint repairs both for small and large coverage areas of the vehicle body. Most workshops would have an infrared dryer as it is an essential piece of equipment for the modern workshop. The unit is used for drying and hardening of putty, primer and colour. The working areas where the infrared dryer is used must be equipped with ventilation in order to avoid exposing the dryer to a high solvent concentration.
The Infraquick dryers emit short wave infrared radiation. Average drying time for paint and primer is 8 ‘ 10 minutes. Assembly of the unit is quite simple and it comes with a detailed instruction manual. The instruction manual gives the settings of the unit including pre-drying settings and complete drying settings.
When using the unit I found that it was well made and it had a gas strut which made angle adjustments easier, meaning there was no heavy lifting of the lamp arm. Another advantage was the arm could be extended to meet any drying application that was required. Also the unit was easy to move around and the positioning of the lights is excellent.
Another good innovation was the distance sensor which would prevent misuse, especially by an inexperienced operator. In the case where the equipment is less than 50 cm from the surface being dried, the equipment will automatically disconnect to avoid drying defects. Also the unit can be plugged into a 15 amp electrical socket.
The digital control panel was also easy to use. When the unit is not in use it is advisable to place the protective cover over the infrared lamps and each week it would be advisable to clean the reflectors and lamps with a cloth.
In summing up, if you are in the market for an infrared dryer SAPE will give you a free demonstration. I am sure you will be impressed by this quality unit.
