Another brick in the Great Wall

China is fast becoming a dominant car manufacturing force and it’s just a matter of time
before it becomes a major part of the Australian automotive landscape.

PAC Total Solutions’ Michael Preece thought it timely to update the industry with what is going on in China.

He’s come up with a few statistics that will make any autobody repairer realise that they will soon be repairing many Chinese-made vehicles.

According to Preece, China now manufactures more than 16 million cars per year.
“To put this in perspective, the total number of registered cars in Australia in 2009 was 12,023,098,” he said.

The next piece of information: how many vehicles in total are registered in China?
“The answer, I’m told, is in excess of 450 million,” Preece said.

“With this sort of power in their home market, it is not a matter of if, only a matter of when, Chinese manufactured vehicles will become a major force here in Australia. Great Wall Motors is just the beginning.”
